Great News!
We are currently accepting Expressions of Interest for 2021 and would love for you to volunteer with our team!
If you are interested in outdoor activities, working as a team with great people, building lifelong friendships, contributing to the community and being part of living history, why not join the award-winning team of volunteers that have made Puffing Billy Railway the much-loved tourist attraction it is today.
Each of our volunteer roles contributes to the smooth and safe running of the Railway. We have in-house training to teach you new skills and to give you a comfortable experience while attending each shift. Our Puffing Billy Pathways Program will introduce you to the Puffing Billy family and ask you to consider what role you would find most personally fulfilling. We have four volunteer roles where you can begin your volunteering journey immediately with minimal training. Please bring your great attitude and a smile!
Puffing Billy Railway is proudly a Child Safe organisation - it is a condition of engaging with our Railway that all PBR Workers have a current Working with Children Check

Volunteering Roles
A few possibilities include administrative duties, parks and grounds maintenance or working in our Carriage Workshops! Perhaps you are interested in dealing directly with our visitors from near and far? You may like to consider a role as a Booking Clerk or a Conductor who deals with all the hustle and bustle of the platform.
We have a buddy system where you can learn from our existing team of volunteers, and our Management team are always there to support you on your journey of volunteering.
We sincerely appreciate all the efforts and time the volunteers put into our beautiful trains and the way you can personally contribute to the experience of our passengers.

What's Next?
Your Expression of Interest will be sent directly to our Volunteer Service Team who will be in touch with you within 5 business days to conduct a short phone interview and to get to know you.
You will then be invited to attend our Volunteer Information Evening. Our Information sessions are held every two months and are the first step in your application to become a volunteer at Puffing Billy Railway. They are an excellent way for you to find out more about the roles that we have on offer and to meet and talk to some of our volunteers.
When you have filled in our Expression of Interest you will be contacted by phone and invited via email to attend the next Volunteer Information Evenings.
This is an important part of our selection process and if you are successful you will be sent an email inviting you to our Pathways Program. Through this program, you will be given an Introduction to the Railway, a behind-the-scenes tour, information about other volunteer roles and an opportunity to meet like-minded souls who are giving back to their community through the generous support of volunteering.
The Pathways Program is a one-day commitment to training and is conducted every two months or on weekends by demand.
