Puffing Billy is located in the Dandenong Ranges, only 40 kilometres or one hour east of Melbourne. Getting to us is easy by car or on public transport.

Belgrave station

Please note that there is NO parking available for passengers on Old Monbulk Road. There are however other parking locations in Belgrave.
Parking around Belgrave is limited, so we encourage our patrons to allow plenty of time to find a spot.
Please be mindful of local Council parking restrictions when selecting where to park. Puffing Billy takes no responsibility for any parking fines incurred by our visitors.
Lakeside Station

Construction is underway on the new Lakeside Visitor Centre at Emerald Lake Park, with access to parking and pedestrian pathways on the Lakeside Station side of this stop altered.
Alternative carpark options available to visitors can be found below. These car parking locations have Council operated ticketed machines - $6 flat fee for the day. See Cardinia Shire Council's website for current details.
While all arriving and departing trains, and its passengers, will still have pedestrian access to Lakeside Station and the wig wag crossing connecting you to Emerald Lake Park, carparking may be temporarily limited during construction activities and bus parking will be unavailable on the station side. Alternative interim bus bays in the Lakeside carpark have been arranged.
While accessible for people with limited mobility, anyone alighting at Lakeside Station should consider the hilly inclines of this park and land stability of construction works in progress before embarking on your journey with us.
Travel by Public Transport
Puffing Billy's Belgrave station is easily accessible by Metro Train from Melbourne CBD. Simply catch the Belgrave line from Melbourne CBD to Belgrave Station, an approximately 70-minute journey.
To find your way from the Metro Train Station in Belgrave to Puffing Billy's station, follow the blue line painted on the platform for a short 2-minute walk to Puffing Billy. If in doubt, ask the station attendant - they will be able to point you in the right direction.
Please note that to travel on public transport in Melbourne you will need a myki card.

'Dandenong' vs. 'The Dandenongs'
Puffing Billy travels through the Dandenong Ranges east of Melbourne (sometimes referred to as 'The Dandenongs'). This name is sometimes confused with Dandenong, a suburb in Melbourne. Please note that Dandenong Railway Station is NOT situated in the Dandenong Ranges - in fact, it is located 25 kilometres away from Puffing Billy. To catch a Metro Train to Puffing Billy, please travel on the Belgrave Line to Belgrave station.
A note for our 'Day out with Thomas' patrons
Day Out With Thomas takes place at Gembrook station, not Belgrave where most Puffing Billy trains commence.
