11 Millionth Passenger Visits
Whilst others are still pondering their new year resolutions, Puffing Billy is already full steam ahead in 2017! History was made on Thursday 5 January 2017 as the iconic Puffing Billy Railway welcomed its 11 millionth passenger on board since the Railway was reopened by the Puffing Billy Preservation Society in 1962.

National Volunteer Week
According to the ABS, of all Australians under 84 years of age, those in the 18-24 age group are the least likely to give up their time to volunteer. While this may not come as a huge surprise (we all remember what it was like to be 20, right?!) it is a statistic that young Puffing Billy Railway volunteer, Max Bracher is determined to change.

The world-famous steam train, The Puffing Billy Railway, is Australia’s favourite train and one of the finest preserved steam railways in the world. The railway which commenced operation in Australia on December 18, 1900 and operates every day except Christmas Day, is a genuine relic of our more leisurely days.
Puffing Billy to exceed visitor capacity in 2018
One of Victoria’s major tourist attractions, Puffing Billy Railway, has received an injection of $8.2 million from the State Government to allow for the long-awaited build of a new Discovery Centre at Lakeside station – a key project that will assist the Railway to expand its operations and meet growing visitor demand.
