The festivities kick off with a Community Picnic from 5pm to 7pm. Enjoy performances from local talents, including the Emerald Primary School and other local organisations. Bring your picnic rug, and savour the summer evening with family and friends.
After the picnic, settle in for the main Christmas Carols event, featuring the renowned Cardinia Civic Concert Band. With 30 world-class musicians, they’ll be performing all your favorite Christmas carols for everyone to sing along.
So, gather your loved ones, pack your picnic, and join us for an unforgettable night of music, fun, and Christmas spirit at Emerald Lake!

For an extra special touch, we’re thrilled to announce the Puffing Billy Carols Express, which will take you to and from the lake, departing from Belgrave Station in classic style.
On the return, you can once again soak in the magic of steam train travel and the serenity of twilight descending over the lush landscapes at a time of day rarely offered to the public.
Exclusive to the Carols Express, we are also offering the opportunity to board the train at Emerald station for a short journey to the lake and return.

The Lakeside Visitor Centre's family-friendly Railway Café offers a relaxed indoor and outdoor setting surrounded by green rainforest trees and lush ferns.
An array of light refreshments will be available in the evening of the Emerald Carols, including takeaway. Bring a hot or cold beverage along to enjoy at the Carols! As a fully licensed venue, our drinks bar is also stocked with a local line-up of beer, wine and cider varieties.

Visitors to the centre can also explore the gift shop, delve into the Lakeside Hall Museum, home to a collection of expertly curated railway artefacts including Puffing Billy Railway's very first locomotive, 3A.
