Situated in the picturesque and verdant Dandenong Ranges, you will find one of Australia’s oldest and best-preserved heritage steam railways, Puffing Billy. Nestled along its railway corridor sits an exclusive wedding venue unlike anything else in all of the Dandenongs; the historic hidden gem that is the Nobelius Packing Shed, located at Nobelius Siding Station, Emerald.
OUR VENUE
This beautifully restored early twentieth century building – once home to the largest fruit and plant nursery in the southern hemisphere – provides the ideal rustic venue to celebrate your nuptials in, with space for up to 80 seated guests or 100 in a cocktail setting, and an open fireplace to keep everyone warm and cosy.
Perfect for any time of year, this heritage listed venue comes complete with Wi-Fi connectivity, dining furniture and tableware, and four-and-a-half-hectares of the beautiful Nobelius Heritage Park that surrounds it, leaving you spoilt for choice when it comes to photo opportunities.
With a delicious menu crafted in-house showcasing regional food and wine and the chance to add a stylish twist of steam in your very own chartered train, the Nobelius Packing Shed really is the perfect place to create the wedding celebration of your dreams in.
Venue hire includes eight trestle tables, 80 clothed chairs, and table cloths.Â
The venue has been professionally styled in featured images; these services are not included as standard in our venue hire and wedding packages. We can recommend local event stylists and suppliers to help dress the venue and bring the creative spirit of the Dandenong Ranges to your special day.
Wedding photography
Puffing Billy provides a truly unique backdrop for your special day, and filming and photography at our railway is understandably popular. Please note that before conducting any filming and photography activities at Puffing Billy Railway (including onboard the train and along the railway track), written permission must be sought from an authorised Puffing Billy representative. Fees apply.
Arrive in style!
What better way to arrive than in the comfort and style of a First Class dining carriage? Select from your closest family and friends or bring the entire wedding party onboard for a unique start to your special day. After the train whistle signals the train's departure from Belgrave and starts its 50-minute journey to the Nobelius Packing Shed, you will be peeking out of the window to admire the most iconic point of the journey - the historic Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge!
The open-sided Excursion Train carriages can also be booked or chartered for larger wedding parties (80+ passengers).

The adjacent Nobelius Heritage Park provides a unique backdrop for your wedding ceremony.
