A recent shipment arriving at the Belgrave workshop contained brand new castings for NG/G16 129, including the chimney (above) and the top feed and check valve castings (below). These parts were supplied by the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway in the UK, and herald what we hope will be the start of a mutually beneficial working relationship, with the flow of information and parts helping both parties to keep these locomotives operating reliably into the future.
Other parts arriving recently include a Pony Wheel casting, to replace one that was found to be unusable, new Cross Shafts for the Valvegear (above), and a new set of machined Coupling Rods (below). The original Coupling Rods were found to have worn considerably, caused by bearings revolving in the Coupling Rod ends, and were outside acceptable tolerances.
