Race Route

This year, we are making a few changes to the Race Route on the day.
Please familiarise yourself with the 2019 Race Route.

Paradise Hotel – Emerald Rail Crossing Diversion

The first 500 runners will utilise the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail from the Paradise Hotel through to the Emerald Rail Crossing for the first time in the 38th Great Train Race. This path runs right next to the train line. Once the First Race Train approaches Clematis Station runners will be directed to Belgrave – Gembrook Road to allow the movement of increased runners.

Emerald Rail Crossing – Crichton Road route change

Runners will not cross the Emerald Rail Crossing and will instead run through the parkland between the Emerald RSL and Emerald Rail Station through to Kilvington Drive, and then utilise the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail through to Beaconsfield – Emerald Road before turning onto Crichton Road. The runners will cross the train tracks three times throughout this new path and be closer to the train than ever before.
