Young Volunteers at Puffing Billy
Young Volunteers at Puffing Billy

Please note that the Youth Day on 17 January is CANCELLED due to the high temperature forecast for this date.

Young Volunteers are always welcome to the Railway. They participate in supervised activities and social events, and are encouraged to be a part of our mentoring program as leaders in our Railway’s future.

The Young Volunteers on our Railway are represented by three different groups:

  • 6-13 year olds attend our very popular youth days during the Victorian School Holidays
  • 14-17 year olds attend regularly conducted youth days and social nights throughout the year
  • 16-35 year olds in the Young Volunteer Representative Team.

For our Young Volunteers in the 6-18 age bracket, Youth Days are held on a regular basis. The next Youth Day will take place on Tuesday 11 April 2017.

Due to the overwhelming response, our numbers will now be limited to 45 young volunteers between the age of 6 and 18 years inclusive. Bookings are essential and will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Thank you very much for your understanding and continued support.

Bookings are essential and can be made to or (03) 9757 0715 or directly to our Volunteer Coordinator for existing volunteers only.

For Young Volunteers in the 18-35 age bracket more information on volunteer opportunities can be found here.

Please note that all the Supervisors of these Young Volunteer events must have a current Working with Children Check and successfully complete a CrimCheck prior to volunteering on our Railway.

If you would like further information about the Young Volunteers of our Railway, please call the Volunteer Services Team on (03) 9757 0715.
