Puffing Billy Railway is one of Victoria’s leading tourist attractions and welcomes visitors from both Australia and overseas. Passenger numbers have been increasing year on year, with families being a key market segment. The Railway is dedicated to the passengers’ experience and to maintaining our popularity as a safe and enjoyable tourist destination.

In this newly created Part Time role at our Lakeside Tea Rooms, we are seeking an experienced Food and Beverage Team Leader to provide direction to staff in order to maintain a high standard of operations and excellent customer service to a diverse visitor base. Working days will be 3-4 out of 7 as rostered and required by the business. Availability to work weekends and public holidays is essential.

 

Key responsibilities for this role are (but not limited to):

  • Lead, motivate and coach staff in the day to day operations of the Tea Rooms to maintain a high level of customer service;
  • Possess financial literacy and control point of sales cash handling procedures;
  • Possess skills and knowledge of food and beverage trends, menu ingredients and dietary requirements;
  • Be a champion of culture and lead by example.

 

Key Selection Criteria for this role are:

  • Competency in Food Handling Practices - SITXFSA101;
  • Current RSA certificate;
  • Previous experience in the service and preparation, presentation and delivery of food in a fast pace environment;
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and most importantly as part of a team with the capability to manage people and process;
  • Experience in moderate training and coaching;
  • Skilled in point of sale technology with good computer skills including Excel & Word.

 

Experience in a similar role combined with your determination to succeed as part of the railway operations will ensure your success in the position.
